Set up your public Catalog

Turn the Catalog on, name it, choose which types and collections customers see, and set where they land.

Updated 22 October 2026

Everything about the page as a whole — whether it exists, what it's called, and what a visitor finds on it — lives in one place: Catalog → Public Catalog settings.

Your Catalog starts switched off. Nothing is public until you turn it on.

Turn it on and name it

  1. Open Catalog and choose Public Catalog settings.
  2. Switch Public Catalog on.
  3. Give it a Catalog title. Leave it empty and we choose one from what you list — the name of the single type you show, *Shop* when everything on it is for sale, or *Explore* for a mix.
  4. Save.

Naming it Shop or Store is a promise that everything on it can be bought, so those two names are only accepted while every listed item is one you sell. Pick another word if you list services or memberships too.

Choose the types customers see

Under Types on the Catalog, switch on each type you want public and use the arrows to put them in the order visitors meet them. Settings opens that type's own page, where you can:

  • give the type the name it goes by on the Catalog, instead of ours
  • choose which of its Public collections appear, and in what order
  • add or remove the settings sections shown for that type

A collection used by your default view can't be hidden — change the default view first.

Set where visitors land

Type navigation decides whether the row of type tabs is shown. Automatic hides it when there's only one type worth showing; Always show and Hide take the decision yourself.

Default view is what opens before anyone clicks. Choose a Type, and then a Collection within it, or leave both on *All*.

Both of these appear once you have more than one type or collection to choose between.

Check it before you trust it

The preview button beside Public Catalog settings opens your Catalog in a new tab under the same type, collection and placement rules a visitor meets — and it works while the Catalog is still off, so you can look before you go live. Use it after every change: settings and item placement are separate, so a tidy settings page is not proof anything is on show.

Who can change what

Changing these settings needs permission to change your Catalog. Once the Catalog is on — or the moment you go to turn it on — you're changing what the public can reach, so it needs permission to publish as well. Without that we say so, and ask you to talk to a workspace owner or admin.

When your changes don't show

You haven't saved. The sheet keeps your edits until you save them.

Someone else saved first. If the settings changed in another session, we'll say so rather than overwrite their work — load the latest settings and make your change again.

The page is right but empty. Types and collections only hold items that are published and placed. An empty Catalog with everything switched on is an item problem, not a settings problem.
