Why a Catalog change won't save

"Changed elsewhere", the save-first guards, and the other reasons an edit is turned down.

Updated 22 October 2026

Two people often work in Catalog at the same time — one pricing an item while another changes what the type does. Most refusals here come from that.

"This changed elsewhere"

"This draft changed elsewhere. Review the latest changes and retry."

"This offer changed elsewhere. Review the latest changes and retry."

"Catalog settings changed elsewhere."

"Public placement changed elsewhere."

All four mean the same thing: somebody else saved this while you had it open. Your version is built on what it looked like before their change, so saving would undo their work.

Nothing was saved and nothing was lost. Reopen the item, see what changed, and make your edit again on top of it.

If Qyra or a teammate changes product details while you have the item open, untouched fields refresh from the saved item. If you also have unsaved product edits, Reload saved details appears and saving is blocked. Your edits stay visible until you choose what to do. Copy anything you want to keep, then choose Reload saved details and confirm to discard those unsaved product edits. You can then make your changes against the latest saved details.

The longer a sheet stays open, the more likely this is. Save as you go when you're writing a long description or working through pricing.

"Save or cancel your changes first"

"Save or cancel your changes before opening another settings area."

"Save or cancel your changes before opening an item."

You have unsaved edits and you're navigating away from them. Qcom stops rather than lose them or carry half-finished settings into the next screen.

Save or Cancel, then go where you were going.

Adding the same thing twice

"That media item is already linked."

"That article is already linked with this purpose."

It's already linked. An article can be linked more than once if each link has a different purpose — the same piece as instructions and as a warranty — but not twice for the same purpose.

Pricing rules

"This rule mixes pricing types, so it can't be edited here. Create a new rule instead."

The editor can't change this combination without guessing what you meant. Build a new rule with what you want and retire the old one.

A new item wasn't created at all

Adding an item writes it together with its settings, so a refusal anywhere stops the whole thing. The sheet stays open and names what was refused — a payment rule that no longer exists, a survey that was unpublished, a billing version that was retired. Fix that one thing and create it again. Nothing is left half-made.

Create is greyed out on Review. An area you opened is unfinished: a Resources row with no file chosen, or a setting of its own with nothing selected. Review lists each one.

The price on the Catalog isn't the price you set

The sentence under What customers see about price shows in place of a price. It is not an amount, and on Catalog cards it is shown instead of one.

If a card shows "Quote after review" over an item you have priced, that sentence is still on the item. Enabling commerce removes it; if it was written some other way, clear it on the item's Details tab.

Media

"Choose or upload media from your workspace's Media library." Images have to live in your Media library rather than being pasted or linked from elsewhere, so everything using them keeps working.

Location

"You didn't allow location access."

"Your browser can't share your location."

This is only a shortcut for filling in an address. Type it instead — nothing else depends on it.

Exports

"Export stopped at 10,000 rows. Narrow the filters for the remainder." Nothing failed. The file you have is complete up to that point — filter to a smaller set and export the rest.
