Create an order at the counter
Choose items and options, arrange pickup or delivery, and review the total before creating an order.
Updated 22 October 2026
Create a pickup or delivery order from your open shift. Review prices and charges before creating it.
How it works
The basket contains your item selections and quantities. Qcom looks up current prices and customer access, applies any valid coupon and pickup or delivery charges, then shows your order for review. The preview does not reserve stock. Creating the order checks current settings and stock again.
Creating the order does not take payment. You see the final total before creation and can record money received from the created order at the counter.
Create an order
- Open Sell, search the Catalog and add items. Choose an option, such as a size or colour, when offered. You can build your basket before opening a shift.
- If you haven't opened a shift, choose Open your shift in the basket. Choose your till, enter the opening cash when required, then choose Open shift. Your items stay in the basket.
- On a phone, choose View basket. Adjust quantities with the plus and minus buttons. Choose Add customer to find someone, or leave the order for a walk-in customer.
- Open Pickup to choose pickup or delivery. For delivery, enter the address. Where distance-based settings require a location, enter both coordinates confirmed by the customer. Open Add coupon or Add notes when needed.
- Choose Review order. Check the items, total, charges and any payment or return terms with the customer, then choose Create order.
- Review the total. If you have received the money, choose Record payment received. See Record a counter payment.
A review expires after ten minutes. Changing the basket or delivery details requires a new review. If prices or settings change before you create the order, Qcom asks you to review again.
When you can't continue
If your shift has ended, choose Open your shift in the basket and review your till. You can still adjust your selections, but reviewing and creating the order need an open shift. An owner or admin can grant permission to create orders or open shifts.
After creating an order, finish recording any payment, then choose Start another order before adding more items. While an order's result is uncertain, check that result before starting another sale.
If delivery cannot be quoted, check the location or choose pickup if available. The counter cannot invent a delivery charge.
An unavailable item, missing price, insufficient stock, incompatible currencies or rejected coupon can prevent creation. Correct the basket or open the item in the dashboard; the counter does not bypass these checks.
If the response does not arrive, the order may already exist. Choose Check order result. If Qcom finds the order, it opens the result. If no order is found, Retry same order becomes available and sends the saved review again. Check again after any further uncertain response. Qcom does not retry creation automatically.
The saved review survives a reload in this browser tab and can be checked after the original shift closes. Keep it until the result is confirmed; clearing browser storage does not cancel an order already created.
See What each order status means for what happens after creation.
