Take a return at the counter
Request a return, recover a missing response and record each decision without changing payments or stock automatically.
Updated 22 October 2026
Use Orders → View order → Start a return when a customer brings items back. You need Commerce write access and your own open shift at the order’s branch. You can read and review returns without opening a shift.
Request the return
- Choose the items and quantities, then a return reason.
- Select Review return and check the amount after fees. A late return needs a team member with permission to accept it and a reason for the exception.
- Choose Request return. Qcom checks the available quantities, current terms and reviewed amount again before saving.
- Choose View return to continue from the order’s Returns section.
Requesting or approving a return does not refund money, restock items or cancel delivery work.
If the response does not arrive
The counter saves the request before sending it. Keep the same browser tab or reload it, then choose Check return result. If it finds the return, open it. A saved return can still be found after its shift closes.
If the check finds no return, Retry same return sends the same request from its original shift and till. It cannot create a second copy of an already saved request. Check again after every uncertain attempt. Do not start another request to work around a missing response.
If the amount or available quantity changed, review the full order with your workspace owner. If the saved request cannot be read, check the order’s existing returns before proceeding elsewhere.
Work through a return
In the order’s Returns section, choose an available action and confirm it:
- Approve return records acceptance. It does not pay the customer.
- Mark received records that the items came back. It does not add stock.
- Reject return records the decision and releases the claimed quantity. Closing a historical return may retain its quantity claim; ask your owner to review it if the available quantity looks wrong.
- Record outside refund records money you have already returned outside Qcom. Enter its reference. It does not send a provider refund or wallet credit.
- Close return ends the workflow when that action is available.
If an update fails or another person changes the return, choose Refresh returns, read its new state and decide again. Qcom does not repeat the action automatically.
When you cannot continue
- Access or settings: ask your owner for Commerce write access or permission to accept late returns. Open your shift at the order’s branch.
- No action or quantity available: check earlier returns and the current state. Completed work has no further actions.
- Could not load, check or save: refresh the read or check the saved request. A missing response does not prove that nothing was saved.
