Count the till and review a cash difference
Record cash movements, hand back a counted till and review differences without changing payment history.
Updated 22 October 2026
Your shift cash report explains how much cash should be in the till and keeps every count. Recording a movement or deciding a difference does not collect, refund or approve a customer payment.
Record cash added or removed
- Open your own shift and go to More → Record cash movement.
- Choose cash added, cash paid out, cash moved to safe or cash refund paid.
- Enter the amount, currency and reason after moving the cash.
- Choose Record cash movement.
You need permission to record movements. A cash refund payout must match an outside refund already recorded on a return from this branch. Enter that return’s reference; each return can have one cash payout entry. This step records cash leaving the till and sends no money.
Count and close
Count the physical cash, then enter Counted cash when closing your shift. With blind counting, Qcom shows expected cash only after closure.
Expected cash includes opening cash, settled cash payments, cash payments awaiting review and cash added. Cash paid out, moved to the safe or paid as a refund is deducted. Online payments are not till cash.
Open View last cash report to see the declaration, expected amount, difference and calculation. Choose Print cash report for the browser’s print dialog. Printer compatibility still needs checking on your device.
Review a difference
- With cash-review permission, open More → Cash reviews.
- Open the cash report and check its movements and counts.
- Record another count if needed. Previous counts remain in the report.
- Choose whether the difference is explained, give a reason, then review and save the decision.
You cannot decide a review for a shift you opened. If you recorded a later count, another available reviewer must decide it. The exception for the only available reviewer applies to that later count, never to the original cashier.
Ending an abandoned shift always opens a review. It does not invent a cash count or approve the absent cashier’s payments.
When you cannot continue
If a response is lost, choose Check saved cash. Qcom checks the saved request before offering Retry saved cash. Keep the original request; do not record a second movement for the same cash.
If a count changes during review, refresh the report before deciding. Cash in more than one currency needs a manager’s review; Qcom does not add different currencies together.
